International Coffee Day

History and traditions of International Coffee Day: world’s drink

History and traditions

For millions of people, coffee has become an essential part of life: for some, it’s a morning ritual, for others – a source of energy and inspiration throughout the day. And yes, this beloved drink has its own holiday – International Coffee Day, which celebrated on October 1.

Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee. According to legend, in the 9th century a shepherd discovered the energizing effect of coffee berries. Later, the drink spread across the East, and by the 19th century it had conquered Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Today, coffee is a symbol of communication, comfort, and pleasure.

The date was officially established by the International Coffee Organization: October 1 was chosen because in many producing countries, this is when the coffee harvest begins.

Traditions

On this day, festivals, tastings, barista shows, and masterclasses take place worldwide. Coffee shops and companies host special promotions and treat their guests to unique flavors. And, of course, the best way to celebrate is to enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee at your favorite café.

But there’s one important secret: even the best beans can’t shine without clean water.

Delicious and high-quality coffee depends not only on the beans you choose but also on the water used to prepare it. If the water is not clean, no matter how good the coffee is, the difference in taste will be noticeable. Azfilter always provides people with clean and high-quality water.
